Parama Pujya Swami Sri Nityananda Giri
His Holiness Swāmī Sri Nityānanda Giri, an acharya of Kriya-yoga order, was born in 1961 in a remote village in the state of Odisha, India. He has completed his post-graduation studies, M. Sc. in Zoology in 1983 and obtained Ph.D. on the subject of Cytogenetics (Genotoxicity) in 1990. From 1990 to 1996, after the completion of his Ph.D, he started teaching the post-graduate and under-graduate students of Life Sciences in a prestigious institute of India. From 1997 to 2002, he was actively engaged in social service to spread health awareness and in management of health services. He was initiated into the Kriyā-yoga meditation techniques in January 1994 and belongs to the order that follows Swami Ṡrī Yukteṡwar Giri. He renounced all the social and family obligations in June 2002 to become a monk and started leading a monastic life at Rishikesh, in the Himalayas. He is a revered monk and a master in the tradition of Kriyā-yoga.
From 2005 he has started teaching and occassionally initiating seekers into the Kriyā-yoga tradition both in India and abroad. He is on a mission to disseminate the sacred knowledge that he has received from the masters of this great lineage. He was living the life of a wandering monk from June 2008, monasteries in the Himalayas being his main abode. Since November 2020, he has been living at a small ashram called 'Kriyayoga Ashram' in Khadri, Kharakmaf village in the Shyampur area of Rishikesh.
Swamijee is not in Facebook or Twitter though you may find accounts in the same name as his. Swami Nityananda Giri is a very common name used by the monks, so one finds monks in the same name and even in the Kriya-yoga traditions to which swamijee belongs.
